We want software to make complex subjects tangible through visualization, experimentation, interaction, and creation. Software engineering methodologies and tools enable us to develop, test, and share modular learning experiences that complement books and practical activities. We pursue software engineering excellence in service of educational quality, guided by teaching and learners’ experiences.

Communities gain the knowledge and tools to build digital infrastructure on their own terms.

We want communities to understand, build, and sustain the systems they depend on. Decentralization, open standards, and portability help them share control and change providers. Systems designed for privacy should let people collaborate while retaining control over how their data is used.
